Bookcraves is
Singapore's first online real-time book rental services company.
Bookcraves was ushered into our lives at the beginning of the year
2003. Started by a group of friends for catering only to a small
group of book lovers, the service naturally progressed to become a
premier online book rental service to serve not only avid book
readers, but also occasional readers and individuals who have just
started to pick up reading as an interest.
Before long, Bookcraves was growing in proportion with her
customers craving for affordable books. Bookcraves’ popularity
did not go unnoticed as she caught the attention of the Streats
newspaper’s editors which featured Bookcraves in one of it’s
articles in May 2003. Although a few Bookcraves-like websites
sprang up over the Internet soon after, it later became apparent
to Bookcraves-boot legs that they lack the key elements to make
their operations viable. To date, Bookcraves has remained the only
fully operational online book rental service in Singapore. The
success of Bookcraves is attributed to her multi-disciplinary team
that is able to engineer an effective back-end process (What the
customer don’t see), a no frills front-end presence (What the
customer sees over the Internet) and a customer service mechanism
(What the customer sees, hears and interacts with
in-person).
Bookcraves’ commitment to her customers gives an edge over past,
present and potential competitors. In giving back to the community
that has so well received Bookcraves, Bookcraves serves to nurture
the reading habits of individuals in Singapore for improving
